8S refers to eight projects :seiri, seiton, seiso, seiketsu, shitsuke, safety, save and study.The aim is to make the enterprise on the basis of field management, continuously improve the accomplishment of corporate culture by creating a learning organization, eliminate safety risks, save cost and time.
Definition and objective
1S SEIRI
Definition: Distinguish between what is to be used and what is not to be used, and clear out what is not to be used.
Objective: Free up the "space" and make use of it.
2S SEITON
Definition: The things to be used shall be positioned and quantified according to the regulations, placed neatly and clearly marked.
Objective: Do not waste time looking for things.
3S SEISO
Definition: Clean up dirt in the workplace and prevent pollution.
Objective: Eliminate "dirt" and keep the workplace clean and bright.
4S SEIKETSU
Definition: Institutionalize and standardize the practices implemented in the above 3s and maintain the results.
Objective: Maintain the results through institutionalization and show the “abnormality”.
5S SHITSUKE
Definition: Everyone acts according to the rules, from the mentality to develop good habits.
Objective: Change the "hostage", develop the habit of careful work.
6S SAFETY
Definition: ① Make the correct operation process on management, configure the appropriate staff to supervise the instruction function; ②Report and eliminate the factors that violate the safety regulations in time; ③ Strengthen the safety awareness education of operators; ④ Sign the safety responsibility letter.
Objective: Predict the danger and prevent it from happening.
7S SAVE
Definition: Reduce the enterprise's manpower, cost, space, time, inventory, material consumption and other factors.
Objective: Develop the habit of reducing costs and strengthen the education of workers' awareness of reducing waste.
8S STUDY
Definition: Learn all kinds of professional and technical knowledge deeply, acquire knowledge from practice and books, learn from colleagues and superiors constantly at the same time, learn advantages to perfect oneself, the purpose of improving one's comprehensive quality.
